FAQs

General Questions

What types of surfaces do you restore and clean?

We work with a wide variety of materials, including ceramic and porcelain tile, grout lines, natural stone like marble, granite, limestone, slate, travertine, onyx, terrazzo, and other hard surface flooring or wall materials. Each material has its own care needs, and we tailor our services to suit the surface and condition.

How often should tile and grout be professionally cleaned?

Every space and traffic level is different, but a good rule of thumb is to schedule professional cleaning once a year for most residential floors. For high-traffic areas, homes with pets or children, or commercial environments, more frequent cleaning may be beneficial.

Cleaning and Restoration

Why should I have my tile and grout professionally cleaned?

Regular mopping and household cleaners only remove surface dirt. Professional cleaning uses specialized tools and solutions to extract deeply embedded soil, residue, grease, and bacteria from grout lines and tile pores that normal cleaning cannot reach.

Can professional cleaning make my grout look new again?

Yes. Deep cleaning removes years of buildup, which can dramatically improve the appearance of grout. In many cases, the grout returns to a much closer match to its original color after professional cleaning paired with sealing or color sealing.

How long does it take to clean tile and grout?

The time varies based on the size of the area, the condition of the grout, and the layout of the space. Smaller areas may take a couple of hours, while larger or heavily soiled floors take longer. If you include color sealing, that will add additional time for drying and application.

Sealing and Protection

Why is grout sealing important?

Grout is naturally porous and absorbs liquids, which leads to stains if left unprotected. Sealing fills these pores to prevent absorption of dirt, oils, and spills. Grout that is properly sealed is easier to clean and maintain over time.

What is grout color sealing?

Grout color sealing uses tinted sealants to both protect the grout and refresh or change its appearance. The color sealer penetrates deep into the grout, giving a consistent, uniform look and making future maintenance easier.

How soon can I walk on floors after sealing?

Most grout sealers cure to the touch within about an hour, but we recommend keeping heavy traffic and moisture off the area until the sealant is fully set for best results.

Natural Stone Care

Why should I avoid vinegar or acidic cleaners on stone surfaces?

Natural stone like marble, limestone, and travertine are sensitive to acids. Acidic cleaners such as vinegar can etch the surface, leaving dull spots or rings that cannot be removed with normal cleaning. Always use pH-neutral cleaners made for stone surfaces.

Why is my stone floor dull after cleaning?

A dull appearance can come from residue left behind, microscopic scratches from daily use, or etching from acidic spills. Deep soil removal helps, but etches and scratches require professional restoration to bring back shine.

How often should stone be sealed?

Frequency depends on traffic, use, and maintenance habits. Industry guidelines often suggest resealing annually, but you can use simple tests and visual checks to determine when protection is needed.

Maintenance and Care

Can I use bleach or other harsh cleaners on tile or grout?

Harsh chemicals like bleach and acids can erode grout and dull or damage some types of tile and stone. We recommend using products that are safe for your specific surface type, and we can provide maintenance recommendations tailored to your home or business.

Do I need to move furniture before service?

For most tile and stone cleaning services we ask that you clear furniture and rugs from the work area. We can provide guidance on what we can help move and what we ask clients to prepare in advance.

Will my floors or surfaces get dirty again?

Yes. Daily use puts soil back onto surfaces over time. Professional cleaning and proper sealing slow down staining and buildup, making maintenance easier, but regular care is still necessary.
